REGULAR MEETING March 16th

Tonight several of our members were away on holiday, (hope your having fun on that cruise Chris) and also hope Glennis has enjoyed her break away. 
With those two regular members away ,  we still managed to have 15 in attendance which is pretty good considering. 
We are h appy to say that our ranks are being lifted by some new members .
Newest members Gilles (pronounced Jill-ays) and Zofia were with us tonight and Zofia was presented with her membership certificate..
 Great to have these two members on board, hope your time with us will be happy and productive and that your stay with us will be a long one.
Gilles did his Ice Breaker speech tonight and told us why he had chosen to become a doctor although it seemed always to be the way to go with both parents in medicine. 
 It wasn't the track he wanted to go down at 1st because of the long hours etc.
 He finally gave in though and we are glad about his decision,  now we have a "Doctor in  the House" at Blue Gum Flat.
Zofia has just returned from a lovely time away in Poland visiting  with family.  Welcome home Zofia.
Scott our visitor from our  last meeting must have been happy with us because he has now  filled out membership papers , so we also welcomed Scott into Blue Gum Toastmasters tonight. 
 Tonight Sam was our Chairman and Sam did a good job of it.
Our speakers were Stephen, John and Gilles, all three delivered very good speeches.

Sadly we recieved the following letter from long time member Pauline. Pauline  has asked me to put her letter on our BLOG to let everyone know of her decision and to let members know of her thoughts.We  all no doubt accept the news of her resignation with sadness.

               RESIGNATION FROM BLUE GUM FLAT TOASTMASTERS CLUB

Dear President, Committee, and Members

It is with sadness that due to declining health, I write to inform you, of my resignation from the Blue Gum Flat Toastmasters Club.

This is my 13^th year of continued membership of this Club, and I would like to thank all who extended the ‘hand of friendship’, over the years that I have been involved in Club Activities.  It has been a privilege to hear of some of your life experiences, and share with you some of mine, over the years.

I have gained much knowledge in Presentation Skills in that time, and in appreciation, also given back, serving Roles on the Committee and as Area Governor.  My proudest achievement was completing a Judges Course at District 70 in Sydney, and twice being asked to Judge at D70 Conference Contest’s, where the Winners went on to compete in America.

I would like to attend your next Dinner Meeting to personally say goodbye, and please keep sending me the Club Newsletters, so I can still follow your progress and achievements.  

Members would be welcome to visit me at home anytime, should you be able to come, just call first, phone 43593108 (as I do like some warning).

I wish the Blue Gum Toastmasters Club ongoing success, and trust that you will all continue to uphold the great values of the Toastmaster Organization.

Jane is well again.....

Jane had some excitement recently when she was rushed off to hospital in severe pain.

 She is OK now and back with us tonight, (minus her apendix)

Glad it all went well and that you are fully  recovered Jane, the next big event  for Jane is when she looses all of her hair in the Greatest Shave, she is looking for sponsors by the way.

A reminder that there is a 5th Monday this month so its a social night get together at the Blue Gum Flat Bistro at the Ourimbah  RSL club. Tanya has  booked a table for 15 to 20 from 6.30 pm so come along, bring a guest or whole family. Its schnitzel night $10.00  schnitzels for members $12.00 non members, chicken breast schnitzels done 5 different ways and all very nice.
