Blue Gum Flat Toastmasters had their 1st meeting for 2015 on 19th Jan. it was attended by 13 members and one visitor Jo who is Alan's better half.
Jo has attended our meetings several times and we are very happy to report that she has decided to join our club.
It was lovely to see our members back and looking refreshed and happy and ready to rock the new year with some great speeches we hope.
(Sadly it looks like we might have lost a new member we were looking forward to hearing from,) Pheonix has taken up an offer he couldnt refuse working in Canberra, we hope you call in now and then Pheonix, we all wish you good luck in your new venture....!
On a happier note: We welcomed Gilles into our club last night and look forward to hearing his future speeches. There has been a lot of discussion on the correct pronunciation of his name,
I just hope I've spelled it right ...
Pronouced Jil- ay I think...!!!!!
***********************************************
Tonight we had only two speeches , both were real quality speeches though.
Ray and Aaron both made excellent speeches.
Aaron spoke tonight about "Space".
It is so good to see how Aaron is improving with every speech he makes, well done Aaron. !
Ray gave us a little look at his 1st bucket list trip. a lovely cruise that he and his wife Chris did round Australia on the Diamond Princess in December.
Looks like they had a great ( noice) time. !
We are now waiting to find out what is next on your bucket list Ray.
Two very good evaluations from Ann and Stuart followed the speeches, this was Stuarts very 1st evaluation and it was great, well done Stuart....
Sam presented the toast tonight and made it a toast about AUSTRALIA.
Sam included lots of little details about (STRAYA), the great South Land, and it was really an interesting toast, (noice)
It was actually a really special toast with Australia Day fast approaching, well done Sam, great choice of a Toast..
John was our timer tonight and is looking really well after open heart surgery only last October.
He has recovered well and proved right the old saying, "you can't keep a good man", well done John, we are all happy to see you looking so well again....
Judi was our Chairman tonight and managed to keep the meeting running to time although it wasn't easy.
We did however, leave on time and only had to drop one thing from the agenda to keep to time.
