August 6th regular meeting......

Monday August 6th was our regular meeting and we had a few members off sick etc but also had  a few visitors with us Helen, Sandy and Lou.
It was nice to see Lou, (Ally's mum) back with us again.
Lou must be very proud of Ally , the way her daughter has gained confidence is amazing .
Ally is now a different girl from that shy little girl who first came to visit us.
You could say Ally has BLOSSOMED and is now a confident young woman...
Ally won the certificate for best evaluation tonight .
I might add that it was an almost unanimous vote, very well done Ally .
A new member joined our ranks  and was inducted into  Bluegum  Flat Toastmasters ....
Welcome Rob, we hope you enjoy the time spent with us.
There were three speakers tonight , Christine, Judi and Tanya.
All speeches were well received and enjoyed by the members.
Christine showed us a whole bag full of old cameras uncovered from one of her late relatives cupboards during her speech about images..
It was interesting to see the old cameras, but a bit upsetting to think that I for one remembered having had some of them in my younger days, must be getting old....
Tanya told us a very special  aboriginal folk story ...
Judi in her speech (read out loud) read excerpts from last years best selling book
"The Happiest Refugee" by well known comedian Anh Do.
Which is a  really great story I fully  recommend to everyone by the way....
Ahn Do is one of the few modern day stand up comedians who does't have to use foul language to make us laugh and his memoir is a great read ( he went from  a little boy suffering almost starvation on a leaky boat to gaining  a Law degree and being one of our top comedians to a best selling author of a book that is  soon to be made into a movie....

Our Table topics tonight had an OLYMPIC theme as you might have imagined
(as we are  in the middle of the Olympic Games) and  was conducted by Darren.
Best Table Topics was won by Christine M.
The best Speech went to Judi....
Best evaluation went to Ally....
Chairman's award was awarded to Kylie for a great job doing General Evaluation..
Great to see you back with us again Kylie, we miss you when your absent.
We have a few absentee's at the moment, we hope you are OK and just in winter  hibernation and do hope you will soon be back with us...We miss you .......

Ray presents Kylie with Chairman's award...

Christine with Table Topics award....

Judi with Best Speech award.

Ally with her best evaluation award.

PRESIDENT TANYA GAVE A BIG WELCOME to our  NEW MEMBER , ROB....
We hope  you will enjoy the journey with Blue Gum Rob....
